The scope of work as a part of the Maine Power Reliability Program in Chelsea consists of the construction of a new 345 kV transmission line and the rebuilding of existing 115 kV and 34.5 kV transmission lines.

The new 345 kV transmission line (Section 3025) will run approximately 5.9 miles of from the Kennebec River to the Whitefield town line on the southern side of the corridor on H-frame wooden structures approximately 75 feet in height. Where the transmission line crosses the Kennebec River, one steel single pole approximately 132 feet above ground will be installed.

The rebuilding of approximately 5.9 miles of existing 115 kV transmission line (Section 60) will involve removing the existing line and constructing a new one in its place. Most of the rebuilt line will be relocated to the northwest side of the corridor and will be primarily constructed using 77 wooden single pole structures that are typically 75 feet in height. Where the transmission line crosses the Kennebec River, one steel single pole structure approximately 87 feet in height will be installed.

The existing 34.5 kV transmission line at the Kennebec River crossing will be rebuilt using two steel single pole structures that are approximately 87 feet in height.

The existing 115 kV transmission line near Augusta (Section 88) will be rebuilt using three wooden single pole structures approximately 75 feet in height.
