The proposed MPRP construction in the Town of Orrington includes the construction of two new transmission lines, the upgrading of an existing 345 kV line, and improvements within the fence line of the existing Orrington Substation to accommodate these new lines.
Orrington Substation:
At the Orrington substation, new buswork structures and equipment, and new 115 kV and 345 kV circuit breakers will be added to accommodate the two new connecting transmission lines.
Transmission Lines:
A new 345 kV transmission line will be built within a corridor expansion area along the eastern side of the existing corridor. The new line will be constructed on wooden H-frames that will have a typical height of 75 feet. One new 115 kV transmission line will be constructed within the existing corridor on both H-frame structures averaging 55 feet in height and single pole structures averaging 75 feet in height.
The existing 345 kV transmission line in the middle of the corridor will remain in place, but will be re-designated to include six new wooden H-frames with a typical height of 75 feet to provide additional support to the transmission conductors.
