Benefits to Maine

The Great Farm Brook property is a 56-acre undeveloped parcel with three large significant vernal pools, 43 acres of significant vernal pool habitat, 4,804 linear feet of streams, forested wetlands and uplands with habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.
A breached and abandoned beaver flowage also existed along an unnamed tributary to the Great Farm Brook that flows across the southern end of the site. The stream presently flows through a small dilapidated culvert which presents a restoration opportunity to enhance the stream continuity within the Great Farm Brook watershed.
The large vernal pools on the property provide a valuable wildlife resource. The largest vernal pool may also provide seasonal waterfowl and wading bird habitat when it is flooded.
There is no known protected open space and focus areas in the vicinity of this property. This property is protected by a conservation easement and was transferred to the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust with a $25,000 stewardship grant in June 2011.
