Half Moon Stream



The Half Moon Stream property is 167 acres and includes four contiguous underdeveloped parcels with 1.85 linear miles of stream, approximately 42 acres of wetlands, inland waterfowl and wading bird habitat (WWH), flood plains and eight vernal pools.

The property is forested with mixed coniferous and northern hardwood trees and early succession growth. Recent and historic logging activity has occurred on the site.

This property is a valuable addition to existing and proposed protected open space that includes the Mendall Marsh Wildlife Management Area (Frankfort), Sandy Point Wildlife Management Area (Stockton Springs), Sear Island (Searsport), MPRP Main Stream Property (Stockton Springs) and MPRP Long Cove Property (Searsport).

The Half Moon Stream property will be protected from development by a conservation easement and was transferred to the Coastal Mountains Land Trust with a $25,000 stewardship grant to provide for management of the property in December 2010.
