The portion of the MPRP located in Jay involves the construction of a new 115 kV electric transmission line and the rebuild of two existing 115 kV electric transmission lines, Section 89 and Section 229.

New 115 kV Transmission Line– The new 115 kV transmission line will be located between the two existing transmission lines within CMP’s existing corridor and will be constructed using primarily single-pole structures that are typically 75 feet in height.

Section 89 (Rebuild) – Section 89 is an existing 115 kV transmission line that enters Jay from Livermore Falls and traverses the southwestern corner of Jay before crossing the Androscoggin River and connecting with the Riley Substation. Section 89, which currently runs on approximately 45-foot tall H-frame structures, will offset to the south of the existing lines on primarily single-pole structures that are typically 75 feet in height.

Section 229 (Rebuild) – Section 229 is an existing 115 kV electric transmission line that enters Jay from the Town of Canton to the west and runs to the northeast and then southeast across the Androscoggin River to the Riley Substation. Section 229, which currently runs on approximately 45-foot tall H-frame structures, will offset to the south from existing line on single-pole structures that are typically 75 feet in height.
