Main Stream

Stockton Springs, Maine

Main Stream

The Main Stream Property includes 83 acres of undeveloped land with forested bluffs and terraces, 1.5 linear miles of perennial stream, 29 acres of wetlands, three significant vernal pools and 26 acres of significant vernal pool habitat. The site is located within approximately five miles of the Penobscot Bay and U.S. Route 1, a major transportation corridor that is likely to support future development in the vicinity. The site has also been utilized for logging. The logged wetlands and uplands are in the process of naturally recovering with primary and secondary succession growth.

This parcel will complement nearby existing and proposed open space or conservation areas including the Mendall Marsh Wildlife Management Area (Frankfort), Sandy Point State Park (Stockton Springs), Fort Point State Park (Stockton Springs), Sears Island (Prospect), MPRP Half Moon Stream Property (Prospect) and MPRP Long Cove Pond Property (Searsport).

The Main Stream property is protected from development by a conservation easement and was transferred to Coastal Mountains Land Trust in December 2010.
