Currently there are two existing 115 kV transmission lines (Section 166 and Section 167) located within the existing corridor that runs parallel to the northern border of town from the Suroweic Substation in Pownal to the southwesterly North Yarmouth town line and then turns southeast to follow the North Yarmouth town line to the Cumberland/Yarmouth municipal boundary.  In this corridor, CMP will construct approximately 4.3 miles of new 345 kV transmission line, Section 3020. The new transmission line would specifically involve:

• Installing a new 345 kV transmission line using 40 two-pole H-frames and two three-pole H-frames;
• Rebuilding a portion of the two115 kV lines, Sections 166 and 167, and replacing two existing transmission poles per line (one single pole and one 3-pole structure) near the town line shared with Pownal.

Pole heights will vary due to terrain and the need to achieve spans that will avoid or minimize impacts to natural resources. Typical above ground heights are 75 feet, although some poles may exceed 75 feet in specific instances.
