Before your next trip, check this page for the latest closures of snowmobile trails in CMP's corridors.

Trail Alerts for: Leeds, Greene, Lewiston:

The following trail alerts are posted in order to inform snowmobilers of construction, which may impact the safeness of certain areas resulting in trail closures, delays and areas where extreme caution is emphasized. Please review the following information, always use caution while riding, and be aware of flagging and signs. If you have further questions please call our hotline at 1-866-914-1944 or contact your local snowmobile club. Updates to trail alerts will be posted as they come in.

Safety First:

In the case of blasting, the contractor will clear area surrounding blast site during scheduled blasts. Personnel are stationed at each trail crossing to temporarily stop traffic. Trail traffic may be delayed for up to 15 minutes in preparation for, and during the blast.

Poles lying on ground are marked with yellow caution tape to help snowmobilers identify the hazard. Travel slow and stay on marked snowmobile trail to minimize risk while traveling through the construction zone.

Areas of construction are dangerous and contain high levels of traffic including the use large equipment. Use caution.

Schedules are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances (weather, safety, progress, etc.)

Closures:

1.25 Miles south of Fish Street to Fish Street, Leeds. Closed Mon. 7am – Fri. 4pm Feb. 6th - Feb. 10th. Tentatively scheduled to re-open on Feb. 10th at 4pm.

Allen Pond Campground Road, Greene to Packard Road, Greene. Closed Mon. 7am – Fri. 4pm Feb. 6th - Feb. 10th. Tentatively scheduled to re-open on Feb. 10th at 4pm.

Packard Road, Greene to Meadow Hill Road, Greene. Closed Feb. 13th - Feb. 15th. Tentatively scheduled to re-open on Feb. 15th at 4pm.  

Meadow Hill Road, Greene to Highway 202, Greene. Closed Feb. 15th - Feb 25th. Re-open TBD.

Highway 202, Greene to Merrill Road, Lewiston. Closed March 3rd - March 10th.

Delays - proceed with caution:

.19 mile north of River Road, Leeds to .09 mile south of North Line Road, Leeds. Closed Feb. 6th - Feb. 10th.

.09 mile south of North Line Road, Leeds to Patten Road, Greene. Closed Mon. 7am – Fri. 4pm Feb. 7th - Feb. 17th.

High Caution Areas:

Packard Road, Greene. Please use caution in this area from Jan. 31st - Feb. 14th.

Daggett Hill Road, Greene. Please use caution in this area from Jan. 31st - Feb. 15th.

ITS 87 Closures May Occur During Winter 2012 Season in Lewiston, Greene, Leeds and Livermore Falls

Contractors working on behalf of the MPRP may be working in Lewiston, Greene, Leeds and Livermore Falls adjacent to ITS 87 on CMP’s corridor throughout the Winter 2012 season. Temporary delays or closures may occur throughout the week due to this work. For detailed information on possible closures call the MPRP Hotline at 1-866-914-1944.

Morrill: MPRP held briefing for midcoast snowmobile clubs

John Titus, MPRP Community Relations Specialist, gave a presentation to midcoast snowmobile clubs about the scope of work that will be taking place this winter at the Tri-Town Snowmobile Club in Morrill last night. Titus reviewed the MPRP work taking place throughout central Maine, including the permanently detoured trail around Larrabee Road Substation in Lewiston and potential impacts to ITS 85 in Pittsfield. Also attending the meeting was a representative from the Department of Conservation's Bureau of Parks and Lands. The next meeting with the clubs will be held on January 4, 2012

Pittsfield: Trail planning for construction near ITS 85

The Pittsfield Driftbusters met with MPRP representatives to beginning planning for the 2011-12 snowmobile season. The group assessed areas where trails may need to be closed or detoured during winter construction, including possible impacts to ITS 85 between Dogtown Road and the Sebasticook River. MPRP representatives will continue to work with the Pittsfield Driftbusters to establish specific detours as needed. Cumberland / N. Yarmouth: Snowmobile trail reroute around Raven Farm Substation proposed.

MPRP representatives and contractors worked with the Moonlite Sno-Skimmers snowmobile club in Cumberland and North Yarmouth to develop a proposed trail reroute around the new Raven Farm Substation on Greely Road. The original trail ran down the middle of the transmission corridor, straight through what is now the new substation site. This trail will be permanently detoured to follow the new and rebuilt transmission lines around the northeast side of the substation site. If you ride this trail, please contact the Moonlite Sno-Skimmers or MPRP hotline for the most up-to-date information. You can also view this map to see the approximate location of the new snowmobile trail in relation to the new substation and transmission lines.

Lewiston: NEW snowmobile trail route at Larrabee Road!

The MPRP worked with Lewiston's Hillside Family Riders Snowmobile Club and construction contractors to develop a new route for the snowmobile trail that ran through the new Larrabee Road Substation site, in area surrounded by Merrill Road, the railroad tracks, and Main Street/Route 202/Route 100. If you ride in this area, please contact the Hillside Family Riders for specific details. You can also view this mapto see the approximate location of the new snowmobile trail in relation to the new substation and transmission lines.

Dixmont: Moosehead Trail/ Rt.7 northwest has limited public access.

Detroit: Troy Road north and south has limited public access.

Pittsfield: Dogtown Road to Madawaska Ave. detoured onto local trails.

Clinton to Pittsfield: Mutton Lane to Johnson Flat closed due to clearing.

Lewiston: Trails near Larrabee Road closed due to substation site development. Trails near Merrill Road have reopened.
