The part of the program located in the Town of West Gardiner involves work in approximately four miles of existing and relocated transmission line corridor that traverses the central portion of the town from Farmingdale to the Litchfield town line.

The project involves the construction of a new 345 kV transmission line on two-pole wooden H-frame structures approximately 75 feet in height, the removal of the existing 115 kV transmission line from the southern side of the corridor and its reconstruction along the north side of the corridor on single-pole structures approximately 75 feet in height.

Approximately 6.9 miles of existing transmission line corridor from Cobbossee Stream to Gardiner will be discontinued. The poles in this portion of the project will be cut off at grade and, along with the conductor wire, removed. CMP will terminate its vegetation management practices in the corridor, although CMP may retain utility rights to the corridor should they ever be needed for future use, and an existing AT&T underground telecommunications cable is expected to remain in place.
